SEASIDE SCARES...

A decrepit haunted hotel named Better Days Guesthouse was the theme of our Dead & Breakfast returning attraction at Screamland in Kent, UK.  Constructed permanently in a large indoor cellar, the attraction was designed with the flexibility to present it in different ways, drawing from a rich fictional narrative and a strong protagonist character – the inimitable and revolting landlady Fag Ash Lil.

A HOTEL OF HORRORS

Guests navigate through an increasingly decaying sequence of hallways and rooms, passing through Room 13 and into a service elevator which simulates travel to a lower basement.

A Kitchen populated by a crazed chef, a pitch-black cellar and a world war 2 Anderson shelter complete the attraction.

VERSION 1 - 2015

The first incarnation of Dead & Breakfast, in 2015, was set in 1941, where young evacuees from a London borstal were being sent from London down to Margate, to escape the horrors of the Blitz.

But the bombs kept on coming, destroying an entire wing of the hotel, leaving the revenants, and their sinister Headmaster, seeking vengeance for their undue demise.

Guests encountered the phantom children in a series of pitch-black environments, dispersed between authentically themed rooms filled with antique furniture, paintings and props.

VERSION 2 - 2016

In 2016 the attraction was presented in the present day, with a new storyline featuring Fag Ash Lil and her new lover Jack Mudgett – a serial killer using the hotel as his killing ground.

With the addition of new rooms and characters, guests explored the hotel trying to evade Jack’s knife, before a dramatic final encounter with the killer himself.

Dead & Breakfast received two awards in 2015, Top Rated Terror Attraction and Excellence in Design.
