JASON KARL
Creative Producer

Jason Karl is uniquely qualified to produce scare attractions having worked in the UK scare entertainment industry for the past 13 years.  As a professional scareactor Jason played ‘Count Dracula’, an interactive character host for the Transylvania themed world at Chessington World of Adventures, haunted the ‘Wicked Witches Haunt’ for a season at Thorpe Park, and played ‘Rocky the Vampyr’, an interactive scare character in Gloomy Wood and The Haunted House ride at Alton Towers theme park, all for The Tussaud’s Group.  Over Halloween 2005 he was selected by Producers at Disneyland Resort Paris to join their Halloween Parade, performing along Main Street USA.

Jason first appeared on television aged 14 in the award winning television series ‘Knightmare’ which paved the way for his career in the entertainment industry.  This was quickly followed with further childhood television appearances including British Satellite Broadcasting’s ‘The Satellite Game’ and the Disney Pictures/Touchstone film ‘Three Men and a Little Lady’.  After studying theatre, photography, film and television and gaining his Equity card travelling the country in a variety of theatre shows in his early twenties, Jason rose to fame as a co-presenter on the Living TV show ‘Most Haunted’ and subsequently ‘Most Haunted Unseen’ both of which have been syndicated to worldwide audiences.  He has presented a variety of television programmes and series in several genres including Discovery Channel’s ‘Ghost Hunters’, ITV’s ‘Haunted Halloween Live’, ‘Tineke’s Paranormal World’ (Holland), ‘Ghost Quest’ (Belgium), Live TV’s ‘The Why Files’, ITV’s ‘Strange But True Encounters’, ZDF1’s ‘Schlossgeister Mondan’ (Germany), Channel 4’s ‘The F*cking Fulfords’, the supernatural adventure gameshow ‘Spectre Inspectors’, ABC’s ‘Diana – Spirit of a Princess’ (USA), Meridian TV’s ‘Perfectly Pets’, the DVD series ‘Jason Karl’s High Spirits’ and produced ‘Haunted Homes’, ‘Spellbound’, and ‘The TV Chef’ starring Julie Goodyear which was shown at the Edinburgh Television Festival.  He has presented over 1000 hours of live television on ‘QVC’ – the world’s premier shopping television network, gameshow channel ‘Jackpot TV’, ‘Yes TV’ and jewellery showcase ‘Gemtique’.  Most recently he has been seen presenting ‘Make Up Most Horrid’ – a make up special effects horror show, and BBC Jam’s ‘The Makeover Show’, and as an occasional actor he appeared in ‘The Clenched Twat of Notre Dame’, for Virgin Shorts/Propeller TV.  In 2009 he will star in ‘The Brimstone Family’, a musical stage show at Dunnington Hall Theatre in York.

As former Creative Director of Pure Television. he developed ‘Terrortower!’ – a location based television adventure game blending aspects of the haunted attraction industry with a traditional television entertainment format.  He also commissioned a series of live interactive audience participation events under the title ‘Scariest Places in Britain’ during which members of the public were invited to spend the night in a variety of haunted locations across the country and produced ‘GhostCon’ – the UK’s first paranormal conference which was held in a Victorian mansion and attracted visitors from around the world.

Since first developing AtmosFEAR! Scare Attractions with Paul Howse in 2000, Jason has produced a variety of scare attractions and entertainment for a number of high profile clients including ‘Disney’s Haunted Mansion Weekend’ for Walt Disney Pictures/Buena Vista, ‘Wicked Weekend’ for New Holland Publishers, City of FEAR’ for Mars, ‘Fright Nights’ – an 18 month long series of haunted entertainment events for Merlin Entertainments and ‘Mission Possible: Haunted Castle’ for Virgin Active.  He also designed, wrote and produced ‘The Exhibition of Ghostlore’ for The York Dungeon in 2002.

Jason is AtmosFEAR! Scare Attractions' Creative Producer and is responsible for developing concepts into workable attractions and shows, fostering relationships with production partners, branding AtmosFEAR! Scare Attractions' product services, directing live productions, overseeing other aspects of the business, and ensuring the company remains in its position as the market leader in the independent UK scare attraction industry.

Jason is an established live event producer, television presenter, broadcaster, and author of nine books which have been published throughout the world including titles for Canada and the USA.  To date he has sold over 40,000 books worldwide and has reached television audiences of over 30 million viewers.  He is a member of British Actors Equity, The Spotlight (Presenters), The Chartered Institute of Journalists, The Pagan Federation, is a regional representative for The Ghost Club Society (established 1862) and a member of The International Association of Haunted Attractions (IAHA).

JANET BARON
Senior Show Producer

Janet has over 20 years experience working in the entertainment industry as a live performer, Entertainments Manager, radio and TV presenter and Principal of a children’s drama academy.  Originally trained at the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Arts, Janet has spent many years in touring stage productions, musicals and on cruise ships entertaining audiences of thousands.  Her natural ability to entertain and empathic connection with audiences of all ages means that she is equally at home performing in front of a group of school children or a full theatre audience.

Janet originally met Jason when he advertised for a contributor for a radio show he presented for the BBC.  Janet was the successful applicant, and after the radio series ended, Jason asked her to join him in the cast of ‘Dine With The Dead’, an interactive Themed Dining Experience which ran for almost 2 years at an historic Tudor manor house in Lancashire.  Janet’s experience working within other historic tourist attractions ensured her role became vital within the development of AtmosFEAR! Scare Attractions, in 2007 she became Show Producer, working on ‘Ghost Encounter LIVE’, ‘Madame ZORA’ and ‘The FRIGHT Before Christmas’. 

Today Janet is responsible for dealing with the scareactor performer pool, developing scripts for live productions, producing live shows and managing audience navigation.  She is AtmosFEAR!’s Casting Director for live productions, occasional performer understudy, and leads elements of the ‘Fright School’ scareactor training programme. 

In 2008 Janet became Senior Show producer, after she solely produced ‘Ripper’s REVENGE!’, and co-produced ‘The Phantom Feast’ and ‘HEX in the Harvest’ scare attractions.  She is a member of British Actors Equity.

PAUL HOWSE
Technical Producer

With a background in theatre and a passion for storytelling through drama and spectacle, Paul was ideally qualified to partner with Jason in 2000 when AtmosFEAR! Scare Attractions was first developed.  Having spent considerable time working together at a television production company, and later a live events team, Paul was responsible for Imagineering the seeds of the original AtmosFEAR! brand concept with Jason.

Paul is an experienced theatrical lighting designer, technician and actor.  His debut as a scareactor took place during AtmosFEAR!’s ‘Disney’s Haunted Mansion Weekend’ production, in which he played the lead role ‘Dr Ravenswood’ a crazed Ghost Hunter, alongside a motley crew of other characters.

Paul’s technical skills are continually being exploited at AtmosFEAR! Imagineering.  He is responsible for converting ideas into reality and lending his technical know how to each project, ensuring our audiences never know quite what to expect!  Combining traditional magic and contemporary technology, Paul is always one step ahead of our competitors with the ability to deliver on budget and on time. 

As Technical Producer Paul is also responsible for the creation of technical Imagineering concept artwork, digital graphics and brand images for AtmosFEAR! productions, he also designs lighting plans for live shows.  He is a member of British Actors Equity.

GARY OKE
Producer

Gary stumbled upon his acting talent at the age of 9, since then, he has performed in a variety of roles in theatres around the country.

As former Marketing Director and Trustee of the Stockport Garrick Theatre, Gary is well placed to exploit all of AtmosFEAR!’s marketing opportunities, and is an experienced keynote speaker.  Along with his wife, Monica Vaness, Gary has a long history designing and producing stage shows as well as conferences and corporate events.

Gary is a qualified Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist and lends his knowledge of phobias, fears and human reactions to help AtmosFEAR! manipulate the sense of audiences as they experience our attractions and productions.  Gary brings a fusion of skills making him extremely well-suited to life in the scare attractions industry.  He appeared as ‘Jack the Ripper’ in the 2008 attraction ‘Ripper’s REVENGE!’.

MONICA VANESS
Producer

Monica has been entertaining audiences, on one form or another, since the age of 4.  She made her talent ‘official’ when she attended Keyano College in Fort McMurray, Alberta as a student of the Drama Programme. 

Monica is comfortable in all types of roles and always brings a unique energy and passion to the performance.  Not satisfied with settling into one creative outlet, Monica is the lead singer in a rock covers band and spends her down time painting and crafting.

Along with her husband, Gary Oke, she produced and operated a company which not only supplied a retail service to the public, but provided a forum for the community in the form of a large conference, held two years in a row.  With a knack for organisation, leadership and perfection, Monica is uniquely qualified to handle productions in an efficient and artistic manner, ensuring client satisfaction.  She appeared as Mrs Jekyll & Hyde in the 2008 attraction ‘Ripper’s REVENGE!’.

WILLOW SILVERWHEEL
Production Assistant

Willow has always shown a keen interest in entertainment and the arts world and began working with AtmosFEAR Scare Attractions in 2004.

As Production Assistant her role involves many duties including administration, documentation and research.  Her practical duties include looking after performers before, during and after productions and becoming a scareactor herself for a variety of marketing duties.  In 2009 she became responsible for actively marketing the Street Theatre productions to a variety of leisure operators and clients around the country.

Willow played the role of ‘The Black Widow Bride’ in the trailer for ‘Ghost Encounter LIVE’, ‘Gretilda’ in the trailer for ‘HEX in the Harvest’  and enjoyed cameo roles in both ‘The Phantom Feast’ as a ‘Demon Diner’ and ‘HEX in the Harvest’ as a demented doll.

Although not always on the frontline of AtmosFEAR!’s production output, Willow’s contribution to the company is very important; one day she may be filing and typing up letters, the next she may be supplying sandwiches to a hoard of zombies in the rain!

DEE SANDERS
Properties Mistress

Dee has been working in the entertainment industry for the last 35 years, primarily a stage performer in her early career, Dee soon realised her potential for production and began developing Murder Mystery shows in which she also starred.

In the late 1980’s she made a move into film and television, and has featured in a variety of films and programmes playing character roles.  In 2007 she began working with AtmosFEAR! Scare Attractions, appearing as Dame Lucretia Devlin in ‘Ghost Encounter LIVE’, since then she has appeared in a variety of other productions and attractions including ‘The Phantom Feast’ and ‘HEX in the Harvest’.  At the end of 2008 she became AtmosFEAR!’s Properties Mistress and is in charge of sourcing and maintaining props for all our productions and attractions.

NATHAN WALTON
Sponsorship Producer

Although relatively new to the scare entertainment industry, Nathan has been involved in show business from the age of 14.  Following his passion of performing arts through further education, Nathan went on to win small roles in a variety of television dramas and soaps including ‘Hollyoaks’ and ‘City Central’. 

After successfully auditioning for a role in ‘HEX in the Harvest’ in June 2008, he quickly proved that he had both the stamina and drive to become part of the core AtmosFEAR! production team, joining the cpmpany in early 2009 as Sponsorship Producer.  Nathan is responsible for forging and managing relationships with outside sponsors for all productions.

Previous attraction guests will have seen him as ‘Edward Diablo’ the Carnival Master in ‘HEX in the Harvest’ as well as the face of ‘Ripper’s REVENGE!’ advertising campaign, playing the role of ‘Jack the Ripper’.
